Ziona
Ziona Riley is a self taught finger style guitarist, folk singer and songwriter living in Nashville, TN. A transplant from Bloomington, Indiana, Riley has quickly become beloved by Nashville's blossoming avant-folk music scene. She is a captivating performer with the uncanny ability to quiet rowdy dive bar crowds and move listening rooms to group sing at her unassuming whim. Ziona’s stage presence and style are preceded by her meticulously clever songs which often feel like lyrical portraits, or even short stories, evoking a subtle wisdom and youthful melancholy. A frequent "Critic's Pick" in the Nashville Scene, she has shared bills in Nashville with touring artists like Josephine Foster, Joseph Allred, and Jay Bolotin, and opened shows for Darren Hanlon, The David Wax Museum, and The Milk Carton Kids in her Bloomington days. Though she is a self-contained artist in her own right, some have compared her to chamber folk artists Vashti Bunyan and Nick Drake as well as offbeat singer songwriters Connie Converse, Dory Previn and Terre Roche.
