About this Event
What does a sustainable Markham look like to you?
The City of Markham invites youth to participate in Envisioning a Sustainable Markham, a creative, hands-on zine workshop hosted by unearthD.
This workshop creates space for participants to explore sustainability in a way that connects to their everyday lives, through art, storytelling, and shared conversation. Together, we will reflect on personal experiences, discuss community challenges and opportunities, and imagine more inclusive, community-driven futures for Markham.
Zines are DIY (do-it-yourself) publications that combine writing, collage, and visual expression. They are a powerful and accessible way to share ideas — no artistic experience or background is required.
What to Expect:
- A beginner-friendly introduction to zine-making
- Guided prompts exploring sustainability and community
- Hands-on creative time using provided materials
- Opportunities for discussion and idea-sharing
- Optional sharing of your work and contribution to a collective community collage
