About this Event
ZINE SLAM is a low-key event hosted by visiting writer and maker, Dr. Jason Luther.
Register—for free!—to drop in, hang out, and contribute something to a collaborative zine: a DIY publication we'll print and circulate soon after.
All are welcome, including students, faculty, staff, and community members. So come and write! Draw! Cut and paste with provided materials! Or just visit, chat about zines, help others, and eat a free lunch.
This event is organized in connection with the Writing Innovation Symposium and sponsored by the Lemonis Center for Student Success in collaboration with the Center for Teaching and Learning, the Haggerty Musuem, the English Department, and FAME: Friends and Alumni of Marquette English as well as Raynor LIbrary and Macmillan Learning.
If you like zines and similar things, we invite you to join us for additional free events on 1/28, including "Beyond Blue Books: Collages, Zines, and Other Punk Reading Pedagogies" at 9am and at 5pm "Making Zines, Making Change," a conversation at the Haggerty about collaborating, publishing, selling, and archiving DIY art led by Jason Luther with Marc Fischer, Kirsten Leenaars, Liz Mason, and Milo Miller.
We also invite you to come back 1/29 and 1/30 for Artifact, the 8th annual Writing Innovation Symposium. Registration is required and open through 1/20.12
