Zine Making Workshop
About this Event
Afterimage: What Stays?
What do you remember when a photograph is gone?
Join Tarla Patel for a creative workshop where memory becomes your source material. Using a mix of collage and journalling by layering images and text, you will create a unique zine exploring how memory and emotion shape the images we carry – what details stay vivid? What becomes blurred?
Inspired by themes from the Ten.8 afterimage Exhibition, or from your own memories of a place, person or experience, this workshop encourages you investigate the relationship between memory and image-making.
All materials provided. No experience necessary.
What is a zine?
A zine is a small, self‑made booklet that can be created quickly and easily without staples or specialist tools. During the workshop, you’ll have the option to make either an 8 page from a traditional format or 18 to 32 page zine.
Tarla Patel is a multidisciplinary artist from Coventry, exploring identity, memory and space through migration and storytelling, championing hidden voices. She has worked on international and UK projects with artists, organisations, and communities. Tarla is the proud custodian of her father's (Masterji) photography archive. His work is currently on display at The New Art Gallery Walsall's Ten.8 afterimage exhibition.
