Zine-Making Workshop at Bow Market

Will this be your first zine? Your five hundredth zine? Do you have no idea what I'm talking about just yet but it sounds kind of cool? This zine making meetup is for you!

You'll receive all the instructions and tools you need to make a zine, an independently created and published booklet about whatever subject you so desire. Make a zine about yourself, your favorite story, the weather, a cool dragon you just made up, a cooking recipe, your strongest opinions, someone you love, someone you hate, or whatever else inspires you at the time. Still not sure what you want to do? You'll not only have your fellow zinesters to bounce ideas with, but a box o' prompts to dig through until inspiration strikes!

Bring zines you've already made to share and swap—Side Quest even features one of Lesbos's take-a-zine/leave-a-zine boxes if you want to make a contribution or look through for further inspiration. Materials like standard printer paper, more exciting scrapbook paper, scissors that cut in funky shapes, scissors that cut normally, cool stickers, uncool stickers, pens, pencils, markers, and so on will be provided for shared use during the event.

Feel free to bring your own materials to use independently or share as well, but out of respect for the space, please don't bring things like loose glitter, liquid glue, or anything else that might make a big mess.

PLEASE NOTE

Masks must be worn at this event when not actively eating or drinking. A limited number of masks will be available if you forget, but please try to bring your own!

ABOUT YOUR FACILITATOR

Your hostess Courtney (she/her) is getting increasingly into DIY by the day and she's making it everyone's problem—and now it's yours! Experienced in event running and community building, she's combining that skillset with her massive tote bag of craft supplies and her interest in drawing things on folded up pieces of paper to help other people do the same, hopefully resulting in everyone making new friends in the process of enjoying the experience of creation.
