About this Event
Whether you have an interest that needs expressing, a message the people need to hear or simply enjoy gluing your fingers together, Zine Club is a space to make zines, chapbooks, brochures, comics or other handmade booklets alongside community. No experience needed!
Zine club is primarily a studio to make zines and connect with fellow creatives. We’ll start with a brief rundown on what a zine is, as well as learn common zine making techniques. You’ll get to work with x-acto knives, letraset type, magazine paper, grease pencils, and other professional materials. You’ll also have access to books on design layout, collage, storytelling and plenty of example zines to sample from. We also offer the opportunity to have your zines distributed to the public! We hope we can help you catch that worm in your brain, experiment, refine, or at the very least, leave a closer member to your community.

Meet your instructor:
Christian Watson is an illustrator, graphic designer and multimedia artist. He, like many artists, started out writing and illustrating stories as a kid and hasn’t stopped since. He has experience guest teaching collage and conceptual art at Charles Hay Elementary and has designed for Edward Staton Music and Signalogy Life Safety and Sound, as well as collaborated with muralist Michelle Brown on the West Evans Ave bridge. He loves to help others play, experiment, capture, and visually realize their stories and is elated at the privilege to witness artists grow into themselves.
