About this Event
You are cordially invited to an advanced Lunch & Learn workshop on surface charge, zeta potential and its effect on wettability and stability of solutions. This workshop is intended for anyone working with solid materials and emulsions/suspensions, and is interested in characterizing or modifying the surface chemistry, electrostatic properties including nanoparticle suspensions, membranes, biomaterials, medical devices, semiconductors, self-assembled monolayers, thin films, and textiles.
The workshop will cover the theory and practical aspects of streaming potential, zeta potential of solid surfaces. Practical aspects of working with various types of solid samples will also be discussed. The talk will be followed by a hands-on session on our Litesizer 500 and Surpass 3 analyzers in the SIF and Dr. Park’s Lab respectively.
Agenda:
• 9:20am - 9:30am: Welcome and Introductions
• 9:30am - 11am: Overview of zeta potential
• 11am - 11:10am: Coffee Break
• 11:10am - 12:15pm: Introduction to the SurPASS 3 instrument
• 12:15pm - 12:45: Lunch
• 1pm - 2pm: Hands-on-Litesizer 500 in SFI
• 2:30pm - 4pm: Hands-On - SurPASS 3 in 2355D Patrick Taylor Hall
