Zero Waste Teddy Bear Picnic
Hosted by the Junction Zero Waste Hub & Brooklands Zoo
Location: Brooklands Zoo & Envirohub in Pukekura Park, New Plymouth.
When: 9:30 AM-2:30 PM Wednesday, 1st October 2025.

Free Family-Friendly Drop-in Zero Waste Upcycling Workshops Morning & Afternoon:
> Slap bracelets with Sam from Stitch-Up Society
> Self-watering seedling starters with Mieke from Green Loop
> Rock-painting with Cath from Taranaki Sustainable Trails

Nature Clean Up and Teddies to take home from 9:30 AM until 2:30 PM

10 AM - 11 AM (Morning Session) - Family-Friendly Workshops @ the Envirohub

11:15 AM-12:15 PM LUNCHTIME ZERO WASTE TEDDY BEAR PICNIC @ the Zoo

12:30 PM - 1:30 PM (Afternoon Session) - Family-Friendly Workshops @ the Envirohub

No RSVP or bookings are needed. All activities are free, everyone is welcome, stay as long as you like, come and go as you please! Children must be supervised by an accompanying adult. Preloved teddies available for adoption free of charge – first in first served!

Nature Clean Up Guide:
> Sign in and bring back the waste you collect to the Brooklands Envirohub Zero Waste Station anytime between 9:30 AM & 2:30 PM.
> Please ‘BYO Gloves and Buckets’ but we will have some for you to borrow.
> Avoid fresh and/or fragile plantings in and around the park & watch out for traffic.

Zero Waste Teddy Bear Picnic Guide:
> BYO Teddy to the picnic and/or... ADOPT ONE OF OUR PRELOVED SOFT TOYS TO TAKE HOME!!! NB: first in, first served.
> Homemade cooking, baking and sammies make zero waste easy!
> BYO reusable cutlery, cups & bowls/plates (STANDARD PICNIC BASKET PROCEDURE)
> Prioritise reusables over disposables!
> Don’t stress. Nobody's perfect. We will have a recycling, compost and rubbish zero waste station set up just outside the Zoo at the Brooklands Envirohub.
