It’s summer time !!

「夏至」Summer Solstice

In ancient Chinese culture, the year is divided into 24 solar terms (二十四節氣), marking the sun's annual journey in 24 equal segments, known as "jie qi" (節氣). These terms were created thousands of years ago to guide agricultural production.

Join us this June to start with the Summer Solstice (夏至) and explore more about these solar terms.

Workshop will start with a short sitting meditation, which lets you experience a greater sense of calm, clarity, and focus on your mind. Throughout the workshop you will learn basic Chinese character writing, and then you can create your own art piece. I believe everyone has their inner creativity - through the art form merged with a peaceful mind, you can work out something amazing!

Zen Art & Meditation workshop are a series of Chinese calligraphy workshops which related to the theme of nature or mindfulness.

About Wai 惠

Wai was born and raised in Hong Kong and has been based in the UK since 2021. She studied fashion design and dance and has experience as a performer and art project coordinator in multimedia theatre. Wai has practiced mindfulness and meditation since 2018, influenced by Master Sheng Yen and Master Thich Nhat Hanh. She now focuses on Art & Mediation Projects, including Nature Art, Zen Art, Zen Drumming, Mindful Eating, and exploring ecotherapy.

Material provided :

Drawing paper, black and blue ink, drawing brushes.

Please bring along:

Around 20 pieces of scrap paper for practice. Bring your own thin and thick drawing or Chinese brushes if you have them, although spares will be available.
