? YULE 2024 ?A VERY PERCHTA SOLSTICE?
???????????????????? ??
Join us for Chalice Hart's annual Yule celebration, our honoring of the Dark of Winter on this longest night, as we welcome the Return of the Light.
During our traditional Solstice pageant, we include this year the honoring of Frau Perchta, a Germanic goddess of the Alpine region who leads the Wild Hunt on winter solstice nights, a raucous retinue of spirits and ancestors, goblins and witches. In days of old, folk would leave offerings during the nights between Christmas and Epiphany - nights sacred to Her - so that She might bless their homes with protection and abundance. At once old and young, fierce and benevolent, Perchta was concerned with the health of hearth and home, blessing all those who honored the spirit of hospitality.

? INFORMATION SPECIFIC TO THIS SABBAT-? DOs & DON'Ts ?
? We know it's long, AND all of it is necessary; there are many wonderful things happening this night.

? MAKE CERTAIN TO ?️‍?️READ EVERYTHING to ensure you are prepared. Every Sabbat is a bit different, & we try hard to make sure all the info you need is here.
???????????????????? ??
? SET UP - 12:30 p.m. - There will be tables to move & set-up, some decorating; we'd appreciate help. We also need help taking down & cleaning up. Consider staying after ritual to make it fast for all.
? GENERAL ARRIVAL - 4:30 PM
?️ RITUAL BEGINS - 5:30 PM
? POTLUCK DINNER - During the Ritual
? DISTRIBUTION OF GIFTS FROM FATHER YULE FOR CHILDREN is towards the end of dinner, before desserts are served
? If you wish your child to receive a gift by Father Yule, you MUST BRING a wrapped gift for EACH CHILD with their NAME ON IT, & give it to FATHER YULE's attendants ?
We ask that value is kept around $15, so everyone feels included.
? There will be a book-gift exchange. Please read the post in the DISCUSSION tab of this Event; and as always, of course, you may still exchange special personal gifts between friends, if you so wish.
✔️ DO GET DRESSED UP if you wish & can. Theme this year is a medieval village so think furs, leather, and homespuns, cloaks, early Medieval simple shifts / dresses / tunics, pants, boots
But don't fret about it. Be as COMFORTABLE as you wish to be.
✔️⛾ HELP US HONOUR THE GODS WITH OUR THRIFT & CONSIDERATION OF THE ENVIRONMENT! ? We are slowly working to reduce / stop our purchase of disposable settings
♻️ So bring your own REUSABLE PLACE-SETTING - ☕ drinkware, plate, bowl, silverware, & cloth napkins are a great way to help us meet our goals ?
✔️ ? If you can contribute to potluck, bring it READY TO SERVE, precut & portioned
All fruits & veg should also be ? PRE-WASHED, even if package says 'washed', to avoid salmonella & other nasties
✔️ ? DO BRING a dish to share with AT LEAST 10-12 people. This is most important to help create the Great Feast. ? If you are bringing a large group, some extras would be appreciated
✔️ DO BRING a hearty main or side dish. We usually have way too many desserts, & not enough veggies & meats. One roast of some kind will be provided by CH
⛔? DO NOT BRING items that are mayonnaise / egg based, as they do not keep safely for the entire event
⛔ DO NOT BRING BREAD ROLLS, Chalice Hart is providing rolls & breads, ? as well as a non-alcoholic bubbly

✔️ DO BRING YOUR FOOD READY TO SERVE. If it is a cake/pie, cut into SMALL serving portions. ? If a roasted chicken, cut it into pieces, etc. Crockpots / Instant Pots are great for keeping items warm
✔️? Mark your pots, dishes, & ? serving-ware, & make sure you TAKE ALL YOUR LEFTOVERS / items home
✔️?️ LABEL the food that you bring WITH CLEARLY WRITTEN TAGS, LISTING ★ALL★ INGREDIENTS, NO MATTER HOW SMALL THE QUANTITY, OR bring original label of purchased / prepared foods
⛔? Here are SOME of the DAMAGING to DEADLY ALLERGIES we have: TREE NUTS; PEANUTS; ? SOY; GLUTEN; EGGS; SHELLFISH / CRUSTACEANS, FISH; NIGHTSHADES (tomatoes, potatoes, eggplant, peppers) & more ☠️
? Clear listing of ALL INGREDIENTS keeps everyone safe from unexpected food misadventures
✔️ DO BRING special drinks you may want for your family or to share (wine, beer, special juices).
✔️? DO BRING everything that you will need to keep you and yours happy & comfortable. ? Also very important: don't come to ritual without adequate self-preparation! This means being adequately nourished, medical needs addressed, & be rested
✔️? SUGGESTED DONATION is $5 per person. This money helps us to pay for the supplies throughout the year, & for the halls during the ? Dark of the Wheel
? While we have a suggested donation, any amount is good, & NO-ONE will ever be turned away or judged for not having a donation. It is just that, SUGGESTED, & we thank you for any & all support given
✔️? Bring a few extra dollars for the raffle, would you? As usual, each ticket is $1, or 6 tickets for $5
? You also get a free ticket with each door donation, no matter the amount. ? There is also another way to receive a free ticket, but you'll have to figure that one out ?
✔️? We accept CASH & CHECKS at the Event, as well as to our CashApp account under ? @ChaliceHart ?
✔️❗ MAKE SURE TO NOTE IN CashApp WHAT THE DONATION IS FOR - raffle tickets, door donation, food bank, etc, so we can record & distribute under correct line item. ? Food bank donation should be separate from CH donation if possible, or note the breakdown in the App
✔️❤️ IF YOU HAVE READ THIS FAR, CONGRATULATIONS! ❤️
