Featuring Yula Andrews on vocals, Felix Serrano on guitar, Neil Bateman on saxophone, Rob Palmer on bass and David Parker on drums
You will be treated to a mix of popular jazz standards and pop tunes in the jazz style.
Suffolk-based Yula Andrews is a trained singer with over 25 years of performing experience, and a versatile voice that can handle anything from Puccini to Tina Turner! Founder of community choir Pop Chorus, she has been leading choirs and offering vocal coaching for over 15 years and is in demand as a workshop leader and also as an expert on the benefits of singing for wellbeing.
Neil Bateman is a saxophonist. Neil has played with numerous bands and ensembles around Suffolk, has organised the Ipswich Jazz Festival and he is now co-director of the popular Suffolk Jazz School with tutors from the top of the UK jazz scene. Neil produces a rich sound with melodic improvisation and brings humour to his performances.
Felix Serrano, a skilled guitarist born in Spain and raised in Brazil, weaves a musical tapestry that blends Bossa Nova, Blues and Jazz. His musical journey began with the soulful sounds of Bossa Nova, influenced by the rhythmic syncopation of samba and the complex harmonies of jazz. His fingers dance across the fretboard, conjuring melodies that echo warm tropical breezes
As house bass player with Jazz East at The Alex in Felixstowe, Suffolk, UK, Rob Palmer has performed with a range of musicians including John Etheridge (Soft Machine, Stephane Grappelli), Jim Mullen (Average White Band, Morrisey Mullen), Christine Tobin. Phil Robson, John Parricelli, Steve Fishwick, Martin Speake (ECM recording artist, Paul Motian, Itchy Fingers), Tim Whitehead (Loose Tubes), Art Themen, Toni Kofi (World Saxophone Quartet), Gilad Atzmon, Nigel Price, Vasilis Xenopoulos, Gareth Lockrane, Julian Siegel, Iain Ballamy, Stan Sultzman, Ross Lardner, Lewis Wright (Empirical), Simon Spillett, Steve Waterman, Robin Jones and Ben Holder. His ambition is to play with one of these guys twice.
David Parker has been drumming since the 1990s, exploring a wide range of genres throughout his career. For the past eight years he has focused on jazz, studying with the Suffolk Jazz School and performing regularly at the Ipswich and Woodbridge jazz jams. He is also the sound engineer for Ipswich Jazz and Blues, bringing his expertise both on and off the stage. Beyond live performance, David shares his passion for drumming with a wider audience through his successful YouTube channel, @davidparkerdrummer.
