About this Event

An Introductory Course on
Daoist Medicine and Health Preservation (2025)

Friday, October 17th- Sunday, October 19th

9am-5pm Daily (with 1 hour lunch break)

5 CEUs | Category 2 (CAB Approved).

The core aspiration of Chinese Daoism (Taoism) is encapsulated in the maxim “仙道贵生,无量度人” (“the way of immortals esteems life; boundlessly saving others”), and thus “Daoist medicine and health preservation” (Dao yi yang sheng 道医养生) represents the most direct manifestation and the most comprehensive practical system within Daoism.

This course draws upon the Daoist medical and health-preserving wisdom of Huangdi Xuanyuan—the Yellow Emperor and mythical progenitor of Daoism—and inherits a millennia-long lineage of Daoist instruction. At its heart lies a dual cultivation of “xìng mìng shuāng xiū” (性命双修, simultaneous cultivation of one's nature and life), and it spans two fundamental stages: nourishing life (yang sheng 养生) and realizing truth (xiu zhen 修真).

The curriculum will delve deeply into the empirical essence of Daoist medical health cultivation:

  • From the meditative heart-method of “adjusting the mind and calming the spirit” (调心安神, tiao xin an shen),
  • To the traditional techniques of “unblocking meridians” (经络疏通, jing luo shu tong);
  • From the wisdom of “medicine and food sharing the same origin” (药食同源, yao shi tong yuan),
  • To the life-coding principle of “balancing yin and yang” (阴阳平衡, yin yang ping heng).

Through theoretical instruction, practical cultivation, and interactive exchange, we aim to enable practitioners to have a better understanding of the distinctive charm of Daoist medical health culture.

Participants will learn invaluable health-preservation methods:

  • The regulation of qi and blood through self-cultivation,
  • Revitalizing the “shen qi” (神气, spirit-energy) via Daoist Breathing Techniques (tu na 吐纳),
  • And how the Daoist medical-nurturing tradition in Jinyun Mountain releases energy, clears meridians, and empowers individuals to master the path to a healthy life.
