In this series, VMHC staff curate displays featuring some of the museum’s millions of artifacts and manuscripts that are not currently on exhibit. In addition to a themed presentation, guests are led on an exclusive behind-the-scenes tour of the museum’s storage areas to examine the museum’s collection up close while interacting with VMHC staff members.
In 1774, Philip Vickers Fithian observed, “Virginians are of genuine blood. They will dance or die!” Virginians across time and place have always found reasons to throw a party – from marking special occasions like birthdays or weddings, to making special occasions through house parties and happy hours. Join us as we explore the ways that individuals collectively celebrate and commemorate moments in their lives with food, fun, and festivity.
