Find your voice and tell your story. Explore the foundations of writing a play through a series of lessons and writing exercises. Learn about plot, character, dialogue, conflict, and more! The course will culminate in a presentation of monologues and short plays written by the students. Open to participants 12 to 17 years old.
Starting September 10th and running til December 17, 2024.
Workshops will be hosted by Amanda Samuelson: a writer, actor, and producer currently based in Amiskwaciwâskahikan, colonially known as Edmonton. Amanda was born and raised in Grande Prairie, Alberta, where her passion for theatre began. She is a graduate of New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts BFA program, with a major in Theatre and a minor in Creative Writing. Amanda’s plays have received recognition in festivals and competitions locally, nationally, and internationally. Most recently, her play Pressure was produced at the 2022 Edmonton Fringe Festival. Amanda currently co-teaches a Playwriting class to teens at the Citadel Theatre. She also volunteers at Prosper Place / Canadian Mental Health Association leading a writing workshop twice a month. She loves giving others the opportunity to fall in love with writing the way that she has.
