This full-day, in-person training will teach you how to reach out and provide initial support to youth who may be developing a mental health or substance use challenge, and help connect them to the appropriate care. Learn the common signs and symptoms of mental health challenges in children and teens, including anxiety, depression, eating disorders and attention deficit hyperactive disorder (ADHD).Topics will include:
• Common signs and symptoms of substance use challenges.
• How to interact with a child or adolescent in crisis.
• How to connect youth with help.
• Trauma, substance use, self-care and the impact of social media and bullying.
• Encouraging self-help and other support strategies
Presented by Compass Health Network. This course is open to participants who live or work in Missouri and is being offered to you at no cost by Missouri's Department of Mental Health. Lunch provided.
