About this Event
Calling All Teens Interested in Food Systems!
Did You Know?
Over 10% of residents in Wake County are food insecure. Food security is defined as the physical, social, and economic access to sufficient, safe, and nutritious food for an active, healthy life. Currently, 12% of children in our community face food insecurity every day.
About the Summit
The Youth Food Security Summit is back for its 4th year, hosted by Wake County Cooperative Extension Food Security and 4-H. This dynamic event engages teens in meaningful discussions and activities around food security. Participants will gain essential skills and knowledge to contribute to local food systems, connect with leaders in food security, and actively engage in hands-on projects.
- Interactive Workshops: Dive into topics like gardening, nutrition, and sustainability with local food security leaders.
- Hands-On Service Project: Pack grocery and essential item kits for food-insecure populations.
- Free Admission: All attendees receive free lunch and admission!
- Age Requirement: Open to all teens in grades 8-12!
