Youth Empowerment Summit Powered by the Girls Rock Dream Rally and The Man Project

In 2018 Keonna Farmer hosted a sold-out Empowering Men for Greatness and Success event for young men in Birmingham, AL. She saw a gap between the community and mentoring events for young ladies vs young men. Men were expected to grow up and make money, be successful and lead households but there weren't many outreach activities for the young men in the city who wanted to be great but needed assistance to become great. At the time I had males friends who were great people but struggled with the ins and outs of navigating life as a man. There was only so much I could help them with.

During this event, a man named Richard Cade was a guest speaker, he has a mentoring program for young men named The Man Project which is a 501c3 non-profit.

Keonna Farmer is the founder of Girl Life Unlimited which is a 501c3 non-profit that hosts an annual event called Girls Rock Dream Rally. It is an annual interactive event we host for underserved girls ages 8-19 in the Birmingham community.

The event aims to empower young girls through educational activities, games, giveaways, and entertainment. Attendees will also hear testimonies from a host of professionals speaking on topics ranging from health and wellness, personal development, and economic diversity.

In its inaugural year, the Girls Dream Rock Rally welcomed 30 girls, in 2019 just over 150 young girls, and 230 girls registered in 2020.

Richard Cade is the founder of The Man Project: Influence Today for a Better Tomorrow, an all-male mentoring program based in Alabama is designed to develop and more importantly demonstrate and help young males find their own individual paths, self-identity, and purpose by inspiring them to identify personal goals and build action plans to achieving them.

We are also partnering with S.I.R. male mentoring goroup! S.I.R., is an acronym for Skillful, Ingenious and Respectable, is a male mentoring curriculum designed to empower high school-aged boys and young men of color. We are committed to aiding the discovery of and unlocking the full potential that is often misdirected or lays dormant in this demographic. The mission of S.I.R is to build productive leaders and citizens from the inside out by exposing dormant potential, challenging the status quo, and provoking a desire to live. The vision of S.I.R is to cause a paradigm shift, as it relates to the way boys and young men of color are viewed and the way that they view themselves.

This year Keonna is combining her Girls Rock Dream Rally weekend with Richard Cade, The Man Project, and Jerry McCoy of S.I.R. Male Mentoring , to create one of the biggest and city's most impactful community outreach weekends that will benefit teen girls, boys AND their parents!

This event includes resources for the participants and parents including affordable therapy, job placement assistance, entertainment, giveaways & so much more!!
