Jazz Technique (All Levels)
Tuesdays, 4:30pm-5:25pm
Tatianna/Tati Steiner (she/her) is a versatile Asian American movement artist and educator based in San Francisco, with a focus on contemporary and modern dance. She began training at age five in ballet, jazz, tap, hip hop, improvisation, and modern dance, developing a strong passion for choreography and performance. A 24’ graduate of UC Berkeley (Cal) with a B.A. in Dance and Performance Studies, Tatianna had the honor of working with renowned choreographers such as Lenora Lee, Iu Hui Chua, and Lisa Wymore. While at Cal, she co-founded Tether Dance Company, a premier modern dance troupe, where she cultivated a cooperative and inclusive environment and explored innovative movement and scoring techniques. She also choreographed and taught contemporary, jazz, and modern dance for Cal organizations like Danceworx and [M]ovement.
As a choreographer, Tatianna fuses jazz, modern, and contemporary styles to create works that are expressive, emotional, and technically complex. As a performer, she is an active freelance performer in the Bay Area, collaborating with artists and organizations such as Printz Dance Project, SanSan Kwan, APAture, and NACHMO. Passionate about pushing the boundaries of dance, Tatianna continuously seeks new ways to expand its possibilities through improvisation and scoring. She is excited to teach at Rae alongside Teo and share their love for movement!

Jazz Technique (All Levels):
Jazz dance classes typically incorporate a blend of technical skills, dynamic movement, and expressive performance, drawing from various historical and contemporary styles. Classes often begin with a warm-up, followed by across-the-floor exercises, and then focus on choreography combinations, according to some dance studios. Expect to work on rhythm, body isolations, and precision, while also developing strength, flexibility, and personal style.

Hip Hop (All Levels):
This began forming as a culture and art movement in the Bronx of New York City in 1970. Hip hop dance is a range of street dance styles primarily performed to hip hop music or sub-generes of hip-hop music that has evolved as part of the hip hop culture with various elements of dance styles. In this class, you will dive more in-depth into fundamentals and improve your movement quality, followed by a longer choreographed combo centered around musicality and movement quality.
