Design bold prints, experiment with layers, and make wearable art.
Explore the bold and exciting world of screen printing in this hands-on studio camp. Students will learn how artists use screens, ink, and stencils to create striking printed designs on paper and fabric.
Throughout the week, campers will develop their own imagery and experiment with layering colors, shapes, and patterns to build dynamic compositions. Students will begin by sketching and refining their designs, then translate those ideas into screens for printing. Along the way, they will learn how to mix inks, register layers, and repeat designs to create multiple prints.
Artists will print on a variety of surfaces, including paper and fabric, creating posters, art prints, and wearable pieces such as printed tote bags or shirts. As they work, campers will explore how layering and repetition can transform simple images into bold graphic artwork.
Screen Printing Studio encourages creativity, experimentation, and hands-on problem-solving while introducing students to a technique widely used in both fine art and contemporary design. By the end of the week, each participant will have a collection of original prints and wearable artworks to share at the Friday Mini Art Exhibition.
