Stitch, weave, and sketch with fabric and fiber to create textured masterpieces.
Discover how line, texture, and pattern can come to life through both drawing and fiber art. In Drawing with Thread, students will explore how sewing and textile techniques can work alongside traditional drawing to create layered, textured artworks.
Throughout the week, campers will sketch ideas using pencil and ink, then translate those lines into stitched designs using needle and thread. Students will learn basic hand-sewing techniques, unique stitches while experimenting with different fabrics, threads, and fiber materials.
Artists will explore how line can move across paper and fabric, creating stitched drawings, embroidered patterns, and mixed media compositions that combine drawing with sewing. Techniques such as simple embroidery, running stitch, and decorative stitching will be used to add texture, depth, and pattern to their designs.
This camp encourages patience, creativity, and experimentation while introducing students to sewing as both a practical skill and an artistic medium. By the end of the week, each camper will have a collection of unique drawings and fiber artworks to share at the Friday Mini Art Exhibition.
