About this Event
Join Zero Carbon Harrogate, the York & North Yorkshire Combined Authority and local partners for an interactive public workshop exploring the region’s new Strategy for a Sustainable Future – and why local voices matter in shaping what comes next.
What could a more sustainable future for Harrogate actually look like? How will climate change affect our homes, health, transport, jobs and daily lives in the years ahead?
This is a chance to better understand the big changes ahead, hear directly from regional climate specialists, and take part in friendly, facilitated discussions about the opportunities and challenges facing our area.
You’ll hear from representatives from the York & North Yorkshire Combined Authority, followed by audience Q&A and collaborative workshop sessions exploring themes around sustainability, climate action and community priorities.
Whether you’re already engaged in climate issues or simply curious about what the future could mean for Harrogate, everyone is welcome.
What to expect:
- A simple overview of the region’s Strategy for a Sustainable Future
- Local context: what this could mean for Harrogate and North Yorkshire
- Audience Q&A with climate and sustainability specialists behind the plan
- Interactive workshop discussions in small groups
🎤 Speakers include:
- Lucy Allis, Local Authorities Climate Action Coordinator, York and North Yorkshire Combined Authority
- Rebecca Haslam, Net Zero Analyst, York and North Yorkshire Combined Authority
- Dylan Philpott, Net Zero Analyst, York and North Yorkshire Combined Authority
After the Q&A, you'll be invited to take part in an informal workshop with small group discussions, considering questions such as:
- What you think of the plan and what would you like to see?
- How should we plan for climate mitigation and adaptation?
- What are your concerns, hopes and ideas?
This is your chance to learn, discuss and influence Harrogate’s future – while there’s still time to shape it before the consultation closes on 10th June.
