About this Event

Working with clients challenges us to adapt in a changing world and industry and maintain a high standard of care. This workshop will have didactic and experiential components. We will explore the impact of a changing culture and the impact on clients and therapists. Our changing world and industry bring with it different limitations and opportunities. We will explore strategies for addressing your personal life experiences and how they impact working with clients. This goes beyond transference-countertransference issues and impacts how we provide therapeutic care.

Learning Objectives

  • Strategies for assessing and managing my personal experience with a client as a therapist
  • Identifying triggers that are likely to impede the therapeutic encounter with a client
  • Identify challenges of ever-changing culture and the impact on different populations and the presentation of issues.
  • Understanding your personal scope of practice: limitations and opportunities
