About this Event
Some movements are just easier on one side of our body than the other. But what if instead of having a "good side" and a "bad side," we have two sides that are good at different things? By learning basic patterns of side dominance, we can help our clients troubleshoot pain and move more efficiently.
Are you a movement teacher with clients who:
- believe they have two left feet?
- are "bummed" they can't feel their glutes or squat deep?
- afraid to press overhead or throw because of shoulder pain?
What if we told you there is a way to work with asymmetry instead of trying to get rid of it? Join movement professionals Erin Boyt and Rachel Henneck to learn basic side dominance principles for the pelvis, ribcage, and shoulders. If you have clients who feel “wonky” on one side, this is for you!
Your Instructors:
Rachel Henneck is a certified personal trainer, nutrition coach and group fitness instructor based in Portland, OR with 15 years of experience in the industry. Her enduring interest in fitness and the human body is informed by many formal educational experiences, clients over the years, having worked in the healthcare industry, being raised by a midwife, playing in the woods as a kid and adult, and hobbies like step aerobics and Olympic weightlifting. Rachel lives on a more rural edge of Portland with her partner and spicy senior dog.
Erin Boyt is a Craniosacral Therapist and personal trainer who loves helping people restore connection with their bodies and move with less pain. She has been in the movement world for over 16 years as a dancer, personal trainer, and bodyworker. Erin blends her knowledge of biomechanics with a variety of somatic modalities with a focus on chronic pain, acute injuries, and emotional release. You can find her at her home office in NE Portland, or at Ikigai Wellness in Tigard. If she's not at one of those places, she is probably snuggling with her dog or writing poetry in the woods.
