“New Dream is back at Growlers for a 2 stage affair with the main stage featuring some of some of Dubstep’s top tastemakers, both old and new. The lounge will feature everything from Ambient and experimental to Drum and Bass and Jungle.

The night will be focused on promoting soundsystem culture and its principles:

The main stage audio will be provided by the Acoustic Artifacts Rig.

Main Stage Lineup:

Youngsta should need very little introduction by now. One of the figureheads of dubstep since the very beginning, long-running resident at scene-defining club night FWD>> and the DJ who first played some of the genre’s most-loved anthems, he continues to be a hugely active figure in dubstep’s development. His weekly show on Rinse FM draws deep for new music, helping to expose and break talented new producers, and the founding ethics that defined dubstep in its early years still remain at the heart of his DJ set.
He’s also famed for his distinct aesthetic – selecting beats that are at once colossally heavy and beautifully intricate, claustrophobic yet with a keen ear for space and silence. “The sound is just me,” he says, explaining that he’s hesitant to pigeonhole the music he plays. “It’s Youngsta. It’s what I’ve always done. People say it’s not changed much, but you can hear progression and change, definitely, it’s not the same as it was. It’s obviously the same vibe, it’s going to to be deep.”
In the last couple of years, as the deeper aspects of dubstep – those rooted strongly in sound system culture – have coalesced into their own distinct, autonomous scene, Youngsta has re-emerged as a figurehead for a new generation of producers. The likes of J:Kenzo, Proxima, Icicle, VIVEK and Nomine are all closely linked with Youngsta himself, forming a new vanguard in an increasingly unique, vibrant scene. Contact – a new club night curated by Youngsta himself – is set to place these producers and others in the context of the wider dance community that surrounds them.
So it’s perhaps surprising that it took until 2012 – eleven years since FWD>> first opened its doors – for Youngsta’s debut solo 12′′ to arrive on Tempa, featuring the tracks ‘Destruction’ and ‘Poseidon’. ‘Destruction’ takes a while to live up to its ominous title, with clouds gradually gathering throughout the track before finally erupting into a huge and violent thunderstorm. Aptly named after the Greek god of the sea, ‘Poseidon’ is a gorgeous, dub-infused roller, driven by a rubbery bassline that thrashes back and forth above a swung rhythm that nods to two-step.
In many ways both tracks cut right to the core of the Youngsta sound – sub-bass is a constant and oppressive presence, while sparse rhythms and ghostly melodies lend a sense of unbroken flow. Along with his collaborations with fellow artists such as LX One and Kryptic Minds, they’re potent reminders of the physical and psychological power of Youngsta’s DJ sets, now further expressed through his own music.

WRAZ

Wraz is a Canadian producer & DJ from the Montreal area. His sound goes into the deep & dark side of Dubstep, Grime, Drum & Bass and Halftime, with fat analog synths, mythical melodies and unstoppable flow on the drums. With releases on Deadbeats, Deep Dark & Dangerous, Artikal Music, 4NCY/Darkmode, Duploc, and other labels across the globe, his unique sound really stands out, being in perfect harmony with the sound system. Get ready for some heat! Wraz has been making a lot of waves all over North-America recently, playing in festivals such as Shambhala Music Festival (CA), Lightning in a Bottle (US), Infrasound Music Festival (US), Sound Haven (US) and playing shows in many cities all over the continent (Los Angeles, Denver, Minneapolis, Miami, New York, Montreal, Chicago, Toronto, etc.). The 29yo producer has a lot more shows planned all over the US and Canada in the upcoming months - sharing the stage with amazing artists such as Zeds Dead, Caspa, Truth, Ganja White Night, and other staples in the scene, you will see Wraz pop up more and more on the flyers. His collaborations with many UK rappers and MCs (PAV4N, Strategy, Snowy, Magugu, Illaman, Fugzii) shows the link between his style and the UK dubstep/140 scene, making a perfect blend between his music and all these amazing artists. His debut in the UK was also a success with shows in London and Bristol.

Wraz has not only been very active on the web by releasing music (singles, EPs and one full album), but also by doing a lot of livestreams. He has a weekly show on Twitch called Gunfingaz Thursdays alongside Substance where they receive a ton of support, having formed a great community from all around the world. They also invite top tier producers & Djs to come play every week with them (some of the past guests : Ternion Sound, The Widdler, Infekt, Distinct Motive, Mesck & Woven Thorns, & more). During COVID, he also participated at 4 of the legendary Deep Dark & Dangerous Quarantine Sessions, with over 2.6k live viewers during his sets.

The Canadian producer started making music full-time in 2012, when he started studying music at college (jazz drum and classical piano), then university (composition), and he has now finished his master’s degree (conducting). While always exploring new techniques of sound design and arrangement, he developed a very unique sound that can be heard throughout his whole catalog.
