Young Writers' Summer: Phoenix City
About this Event
Phoenix City – The City Is Dead: Long Live The City
Do you want this city to be better?
A place that offers more things to do and see and places to go for young people like you?
Then come and join film makers Mat Fleming, Christo Wallers and Harry Lawson to make a short film which explores your practical and fantasy ideas for rebuilding the city to a utopia for young people to live their best lives.
If this sounds like a bit of you, sign up now and bring your views to:
The Farrell Centre, Eldon Place, Newcastle City Centre.
On 3rd to the 7th August 2026
10.30am to 3.30pm each day.
Please note: While signing up, you will be asked whether you consent to photos being taken and shared of your child. If they would like to feature in the film being created, they will require photo permissions as the film will be shared publicly following the sessions. If you do not consent to photo permissions for your child, they can still help create the film, but cannot feature in it.
Donations
Tickets are free! But if you can, please consider donating to the charity when booking your ticket. With support from people like you, we can help to cover the costs of providing free creative writing programmes for children and young people. These run throughout the year, often in disadvantaged areas where there are fewer opportunities.
We work to help these young people to realise their potential. We develop skills, nurture talent, and encourage them to have a go at creative writing. We create environments where young writers can make friends, boost their confidence, try out new things, and have fun!
Our suggested donation is £25, but anything you can give will make a big difference. Thank you.
