About this Event

Young Professionals Speed Networking Night

Get ready to connect and expand your local Brazos Valley network at this fun, in-person event! Meet like-minded young professionals and make great contacts fast. Whether you're new in town or looking to grow your circle, this night’s for you. Get ready to mingle, chat, and build connections that could change your community for good!

We are happy to partner with the City of College Station for this event, as retaining local professionals in the area has been identified as an economic need for the Brazos Valley. We know that traditional networking nights can be shallow, intimidating, overwhelming, and just not that much fun, so we're flipping the script to bring speed networking to the area.

How does speed networking work?

Pre-Registration and Agreeing to Terms and Conditions: Everyone pre-registers for the event on Eventbrite, and secures their spot. Spots will be limited to only 40 people to ensure the event is as efficient and comfortable as possible (you will have conversations with 18 people, and have four opportunities to mingle with the other 21 people). Registration includes agreeing to our terms and conditions, which include agreeing that you will not ask for contact information from anyone at the event (or provide it if asked), and you will conduct yourself respectfully/professionally before, during, and after the event. After registration, you will submit a photo and short bio for a connection roster that will only be available to other attendees at the event.

Speed Networking Itself: You show up, get a nametag, get assigned a seat, and grab some refreshments. We will get started promptly at 6pm. You may be assigned a seat that you sit at the whole night, or you'll be assigned a starting seat and you'll rotate to the next highest number throughout the night. Half will stay seated, half will rotate. Conversations are timed at five minutes long each, and we'll do three rounds of six conversations each round, with breaks between and a time to mingle afterwards.

Post-Event Matching: You'll review the digital roster (with everyone on it), and submit who you'd like to connect with (you have until midnight and can pick as many people as you like). If the feeling is mutual (both sides picked each other), we'll connect you via email within 48 hours. We expect folks who get matched to meet up again in real life to continue the conversation and grow their connection!

Our goal for our events is to ensure everyone feels comfortable and has fun, while being efficient and productive with your time. We highly prioritize organization and communication, so if there is ever anything you're concerned with, please bring it to our attention!

NOTE: Respectful conduct is required at all times. Disrespectful or rude behavior toward other participants, venue staff, City staff/volunteers, or Brazos Valley Connections employees will not be tolerated. If you have a complaint, question, or concern—before, during, or after the event—you must bring it to the attention of Brazos Valley Connections in a professional and respectful manner. Any rude or disrespectful behavior, whether online, via email/text, or in person, may result in forfeiture of your ticket without refund and a ban from all future events. We are committed to hosting a welcoming, friendly, and professional environment for all attendees.

Agenda

Check-In and Mingling

Info: You show up to the event 30 minutes early (doors open at 5:30pm) to get your nametag and a randomly assigned seat number (all seats will be numbered). Half of the group will remain sitting while the other half rotates every five minutes, so we can maximize conversations. During check-in, you'll have time to grab refreshments and mingle with others.

🕑: 06:00 PM - 06:30 PM
Speed Networking Round 1

🕑: 07:45 PM - 08:15 PM
Closing and Mingling

Info: We will end with a little bit more time to mingle with anyone you may not have gotten the chance to meet, and we'll have some resource tables available on how to get plugged into other great networks locally. After the event ends, you'll have until midnight to submit your connection roster with anyone you'd like to meet up with again. You can submit as many connections as you'd like! Within 48 hours, we will match everyone who expressed mutual interest, and let each of you know via email of your results. The results are simply each person's first name and email. We also offer suggestions for how to meet up again, so that you can easily progress the connection outside of our event.
