About Adib Young

Hailed by All About Jazz as a "creative and consistently sharp and engaging" soloist, Adib Young is a saxophonist and composer based in Columbia, SC, whose work blends jazz tradition with contemporary composition. A Furman University graduate, Young studied saxophone under Matt Olson and composition under Mark Kilstofte and Jay Bocook, earning recognition as a Presser Scholar and Concerto Competition winner.

Young went on to earn his M.M. and D.M.A. in Jazz Performance from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, where he taught and performed alongside artists including Ignacio Berroa, Troy Roberts, and Darius Brubeck. His arrangements of Duke Ellington's "In a Sentimental Mood" and Bobby Hutcherson's "Little B's Poem" have been published by Hal Leonard, and he has presented at the North American Saxophone Alliance and Jazz Education Network.
