In connection to Young Human Rights Activist Week 2025, we are hosting our biannual conference on youth activism in African countries. This year's theme is peace activism and we have invited five young human rights activists who work with peace in different ways. This conference is your chance to engage in discussions with them and learn about their work.
The conference is free and open to all, but we have limited numbers of seats so first come, first served.

The activists:
- Adama Dicko (Mali)
Dicko is the Executive Director of AJCAD, with extensive experience in peacebuilding, conflict resolution, and community development across Mali. Over the years, she has dedicated herself to fostering dialogue and cooperation among diverse groups to promote sustainable peace and social cohesion. Currently, through her organization, AJCAD, she is actively engaged in mediating conflicts at the local level, facilitating dialogue between conflicting parties to promote understanding and reconciliation.
- Aaliyah Bagas (Mozambique)
A committed youth leader and advocate, Bagas works on peace education and youth empowerment with a special focus on gender justice and intergenerational dialogue. She has been actively involved in community-based awareness campaigns on non-violence and has collaborated with youth platforms at the national level.
- Azadi Abuelaas Mohamed (Sudan)
Mohamed is an impressive law student, feminist and pro peace and democracy activist from Sudan. She is an active member of the Sudanese Youth Network.
- Bol Deng Bol (South Sudan)
Bol is a human rights activist and an expert in the civil society. He has been in peace lobby and advocacy for more than 5 years and he has been the chairperson of the Jonglei Civil Society Network of more than 50+ CSOs, NGOs and CBOs in the Greater Jonglei region of South Sudan.
- Rafiu Adeniran Lawal (Nigeria)
Lawal is the founder and executive director of the Building Blocks for Peace Foundation- a youth led network working on conflict prevention and peacebuilding in Nigeria. Previously he has worked as the regional coordinator of the United Network of Young Peacebuilders in West and Central Africa. He is also the regional representative for the Global Partnership for the Prevention of Armed Conflict (GPPAC) in West Africa. Rafiu participated in the development process of Nigeria’s first NAPYPS and now implements activities aimed at localizing the NAP.
