You Broke My Heart - Me rompiste el corazón - Chile 2025

What if a broken heart could inspire music that belongs to an entire country?
Before becoming a legend of Chilean popular music, Roberto Parra was a restless traveler shaped by freight trains, working-class neighborhoods, and the bohemian bars of Valparaíso and Santiago. Then he met the unforgettable Negra Ester, beginning a passionate and turbulent romance that would inspire one of Chile’s most iconic theatrical works.
Starring Daniel Muñoz and Carmen Gloria Bresky, You Broke My Heart unfolds to the irresistible rhythm of cueca chora. Earthy, romantic, and alive with music, the film celebrates Parra’s legacy and the artists who transformed everyday experience into an essential part of Chile’s cultural memory.
Why We Chose This Film
Because Roberto Parra transformed heartbreak and working-class life into music—and proved that stories born in bars, ports, and city streets can become a nation’s soul.
