Did you know?
- LGBTQ youth are more than four times as likely to attempt suicide than their peers.
- More than 1.8 million LGBTQ youth (13-24) seriously consider suicide each year in the US- and at least one attempts suicide every 45 seconds.
But...
- LGBTQ youth who live in a community that is accepting of LGBTQ people reported much lower rates of attempting suicide than those who do not.
- The Trevor Project’s research has found that LGBTQ youth who found their school and home to be LGBTQ-affirming reported lower rates of attempting suicide.

‘You Belong Here’ is a documentary that explores the stories of LGBTQ+ persons and allies who grew up in and around Pitt County, North Carolina. It highlights LGBTQ+ voices to promote understanding and acceptance and addresses the suicide rate among young people in the community.
The screening will take place at the Davidson Town Hall & Community Center on Friday, June 30th at 6:30pm. Following the screening will be a Q&A panel of individuals with lived experience from the film and local community members.
Topics include: Mental Health, Suicide, Self-Harm, and Homophobia
This is a free event, but donations are welcome and appreciated. Donations go to furthering Davidson LifeLine's mission of supporting mental health awareness and suicide prevention in our community.
