What is a cash mob?
➡️ A cash mob is a gathering at a specific business at a set time to make purchases and support the business!
Do I need cash?
➡️ Nope! All businesses accept cash and major cards. "Cash mob" is just a term coined in 2011 by a New York blogger as a way to support local businesses in need of immediate support.
What can I expect?
➡️ Come ready to eat, shop, and support local businesses! At this You Belong Here Cash Mob, we're gathering at Mercado Central with 35 small businesses with everything from food, shopping, and services.
Most businesses will accept cash and all major credit cards.
When should I show up?
➡️Show up anytime between 4:00 and 7:00 pm! If you're not able to visit during those 3 hours, these businesses strive to remain open and would love to see your support another time.
Where can I park?
➡️ A free surface lot for Mercado Central is located behind the building, accessible from Bloomington Ave. Metered street parking is available on Lake Street and Bloomington Ave. (A graphic will be posted under "Discussion" soon!)
What safety measures will be in place?
➡️Lake Street Council volunteers will be in the area to welcome all guests who are supportive of our immigrant community and not I.C.E. Photos or videos of individuals without their verbal consent are not allowed.
Do I need a ticket to attend?
➡️Nope! Getting a ticket is appreciated, as it helps the businesses plan for the right number of visitors and is a success indicator for us.
Who is organizing this event?
➡️This You Belong Here Cash Mob is organized by the Lake Street Council, also known as Visit Lake Street. The Lake Street Council is a 501(c)3 nonprofit that fosters economic vitality and amplifies Lake Street's vibrancy to create a thriving and livable commercial corridor in Minneapolis.
