⏰ Meet at 8:45 AM
Alright river creatures… we’re heading back to the water. Last year we did the shorter float and everyone said they wished we could stay out longer, so this time we’re fixing that problem by doing the longer float.
Last year we had a turnout of 41 people! Biggest event in the Freaks Of Nature history. CHALLENGE this year: beat that record!
We’ll be doing the Cyclone Springs Float, which is about 12.2 miles and typically takes around 6 to 8 hours, although it often moves faster depending on water level and how much paddling versus floating happens.
Translation: it’s a full day river adventure.
The Red River has a steady current with sandy banks, rocky sections, and beautiful scenery along the way. We will take occasional stops for snacks or quick breaks, but this is not a lazy float day. This is a paddle. The goal is to keep moving and cover the full 12.2 miles, so expect to actually use those arms and get a little exercise in. Think scenic river workout with adventure, not a sit in your kayak and drift while partying situation.
🌊 How the Float Works
You check in at the outfitter and they shuttle everyone upriver, then we paddle back down to where our vehicles are parked.
