About this Event
Yorkville Public Space & Public Art Walking Tour!
Join us for a fun in-person walking tour exploring the coolest public spaces and public art in Yorkville! Discover hidden gems, amazing parks, and unique art while enjoying fresh air and great company. Perfect for art lovers and curious explorers alike—come see Yorkville like never before!
Behind the glass and steel of Toronto’s newest developments lies a network of parks and art installations waiting to be discovered. While the City consistently negotiates for these spaces to improve Toronto residents' quality of life, sometimes they may be perceived as private spaces, hence "hidden" in plain sight.
Since 2000, over one million square feet of open space has been added to downtown Toronto -- much of it tucked between high-rises. These are POPS: Privately Owned Publicly-Accessible Open Spaces. Combined with the City’s "Percent for Public Art" program, these spots offer vital places for relaxation and inspiration.
On this walk, we will focus in the area around Yorkville, and we’ll visit diverse POPS and public art pieces that have transformed the area. Join us for a stroll to uncover these "secret" spaces, admire the art that animates them, and discuss how how we can increase awareness of these essential city amenities.
