A two judge hearing has been scheduled in my custody case after I raised serious jurisdictional challenges. Instead of addressing the full legal issues, the court ordered that I am only allowed to argue improper venue.The hearing will be run jointly by Judge Menges from York and Judge McLaughlin from Lancaster, even though Lancaster is where the case would belong if it were valid at all. Their involvement has raised major questions about transparency and fairness.
This case involves a Tier III violent sex offender who is currently incarcerated and legally barred from seeking custody. Despite that, the court is moving his petition forward.
I’m asking the public and press to attend. What happens in this hearing affects more than just my family. It speaks to the bigger problem families across York County are facing.
