Our congregant, Walter Gewing, fled Austria in 1938 for the Shanghai Ghetto and, from there, found his way to San Francisco. He will tell the story of his journey at this year’s Yom Hashoah/Holocaust Remembrance Day service.Walter’s journey is remarkable. We are blessed that he is a member of CBE, and we are grateful to him for sharing the extraordinary events of his life.
Our Yom Hashoah service includes prayer, poetry, music, and the lighting of memorial candles in memory of the victims of the Holocaust. The service is appropriate for adults and students.
