Tonight’s jazz feature at the Jam House is the launch of the new album by the globally recognised bassist Yolanda Charles MBE, known for working with BB King to Hans Zimmer. The new album is ACID FUNK by Project pH, and is now available on digital, vinyl, & CD formats.Producer/guitarist Nick Linnik shaped the unique sound of their debut album, now bought to you for a run of live shows around the UK. Acclaimed keyboardist Hamish Balfour, completes the main trio.
Lead vocalist Haydn Bardoe and newcomer on the scene Rebecca Goulding lend their modern vocal style to the line-up. Anchored by the solid and highly reputed Junior Kirton on drums the band groove with an irresistible intensity.
Yolanda Charles MBE – the internationally renowned bassist and songwriter, started her career playing for Jimmy Sommerville (The Communards) and then quickly became the bass foundation of various groups in the burgeoning ‘acid jazz’ scene of the early 1990’s. The ‘High Priestess Of Funk’ (Bass Guitar magazine) has worked with artists such as Hans Zimmer, Paul Weller, Robbie Williams, BB King, Eric Clapton, Roger Daltrey, Van Morrison, Mick Jagger and Michael Jackson in a exemplary career of thirty years and counting.
Yolanda was awarded an MBE in the 2020 Birthday Honours for services as a musician in the UK music business.
