Discover the true meaning of yoga in a 17 week exploration of The Yoga Sutras of Patanjali.
This accredited CEU Yoga Alliance course is a guided experience that offers an opportunity for deep study supported by community and yogic practices.
The Yoga Sutras of Patanjali is one of the most important texts in the yoga tradition. Think of it as the spiritual science, the “why” behind the yogic practices. This text offers instructions and insight into the nature of our mind and a pathway to self-mastery and ultimately liberation. This brilliant and evolutionary text continues to be as true today as it was thousands of years ago.
The philosophy underlying the yoga sutras explain how the mind functions and why it is often caught up in negative patterns like stress and self sabotage. These patterns make us feel like we are our own worst enemy! Yet this text shows us that our mind can in fact be our greatest and most powerful ally. When we incorporate the time tested techniques and teachings of the Yoga Sutras, we learn that we can rewire our mind, elevate our experience of life, reclaim our innate power, change our vibration to a higher frequency and step into the state of our creative potential.
The mind is more powerful than 10,000 suns.
I created this course for teachers, practitioners and beginners because so many of you have expressed a deep and heartfelt desire to understand what yoga truly is. In fact, many yoga teacher trainings mostly focus on postures and western anatomy while barely scratching the surface of the true philosophy. Because of this, many teachers have desired to share the philosophical teachings in a more meaningful way.

The prevailing understanding of yoga is that it is an exercise program with stretching. However, yoga actually, is not exercise. It is a state of being, a state of total freedom and union with Truth. It is a heart centered way of life. The postures can be a part of a yoga practice, but they are not “yoga” themselves.
Anyone, regardless if they ever step on a yoga mat can access these teachings and the tools they provide in order to change their lives for the better.

WHY STUDY THE SUTRAS?
The yoga sutras are simple verses containing concepts and words that unlock truth. Revealing, or giving us the tools to discover or even more accurately, remember the essential truth of who we are. They share wisdom on how to train our minds so we can overcome any obstacles in our life, break free from old patterns and essentially, step into the highest form of who we really are.
It is one thing to read the Yoga Sutras alone, and yet another to experience the evolution of understanding through group discussion lead by a teacher who has studied them for many years while guiding the implementation these practices.
LIVE SESSIONS
15 LIVE 2 hour philosophy sessions hosted in person at the Shala. Sessions will also be shared on Zoom and recorded for anyone who can’t make a session in person or needs to watch later.
YOGA PRACTICES
4 yoga practices (kriya, breath, mantra & meditation) to practically apply what you are learning. These sessions offer a systematic approach to meditation that will serve you for the rest of your life.
RECORDINGS
Sessions are recorded so that you can access their wisdom again and again.
COMMUNITY
Experience Sangha (conscious community) coming together for a period of enlightened study.
SADHANA
Keep up your journey with a 40-Day sadhana including daily practice.
STUDIO USE
Yoga studio is providing free Sadhana mantra meditations m-f, 7:20am-8am -should you wish to incorporate your sadhana with ours.
ONGOING
Continued access for at least one year following the completion of our time together so you can revisit the material at your own leisure.
Our mind can be our greatest obstacle, yet with the implementation of the purifying techniques presented in the sutras, it also holds the key to our freedom. This course outlines how to purify, and create new ways of being and thinking that will protect your mind from becoming overcome by the old self sabotaging energetic forces like doubt, fear, anger, confusion, and self-incrimination. Learn how to instead channel these energetics for Self evolution.
Practice of what you learn is key, therefore every week you will be taken a little deeper in your inner exploration through yogic practices and self-reflection exercises. Our focus is the first two chapters that offer the most practical wisdom that sets us on the path to true freedom and fulfillment.
WHO IS THIS COURSE FOR?
You are new to yogic philosophy or simply want to deepen your current understanding
Yoga teachers wishing another lens into the sutras with supporting practices and to attain the required yoga alliance continued education hours. This course provides 34 hours. Yoga alliance requires 30 hours every 3 years to maintain certification.
Anyone seeking practical tools to take into everyday life to improve one’s relationship with self, loved ones and the world at large

My mission is to share the immense love I have for yoga and its powerful healing techniques and tools with others.
I have studied and practiced many styles of Hatha yoga, Kundalini yoga and meditation as well as, lead many yoga teacher trainings, immersions and workshops. I believe these practices are powerful beyond words for Self healing. Ultimately by healing ourselves, we heal our communities and the planet. To heal the world, we must heal ourselves.

What are the Sutras of Patanjali?
the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali is a collection of 196 short verses that serve as a guide to attain wisdom and self-realization through yoga. The text is estimated to have been written in roughly 400 C.E., and is regarded by many as the basis of yoga philosophy.
The 196 sutras (which translates to “threads” or “discourses” in English) are separated into four padas (chapters): Samadhi, Sadhana, Vibhuti, and Kaivalya. We will focus mainly on the first two chapters.
The text itself is open to interpretation by the practitioner, but at its core, the Yoga Sutras are intended to provide depth and practical wisdom to help yogis and yoginis explore the central meaning of yoga.

I am new to yoga. Can I still join?
Yes! These sessions are accessible to anyone and especially potent for beginners.
We build progressively on the concepts and there will be group Q&A and discussion in each session. This is an ideal environment for learning.
Ultimately, starting with the philosophy is the best way for a beginner to learn about yoga! Often people jump into the exercise aspect before understanding the holistic system. This is absolutely where you want to start!
What are the required materials?
Upon registration, you will be sent a welcome letter and a link to the required books. Essentially you will only need your textbooks and a journal.
Can I gift this to a loved one?
Yes! I highly encourage gifting this course to a loved one, then you can take it together! This leads to rich conversation and an opportunity to support each other. You can also gift this to someone you know will be interested in discussing and learning philosophy with a group of people. Either way, this is a wonderful offering.
Does this course offer continuing education credits for yoga teachers?
Yes! This course provides 32 contact hours of CEU credits plus a minimum of 10 self study hours for your Sadhana. This fulfills the 3 year ongoing education requirement by Yoga Alliance. You will receive a certificate of completion at the end of the course.
Do you have to attend every session in person?
You do not. While I highly encourage in person attendance because your presence contributes to the group energy and discussion, plus, experiential learning is the most effective, you can join in the discussion through Zoom or, watch the recorded video afterward.
