1-Improve Heart Rate Variability & strengthen vagal nerve tone: Yoga nidra can facilitate balance between the sympathetic and parasympathetic nervous systems. Improved vagal tone has been linked to reduction of inflammation as well as a decrease in feelings of anxiety and depression while improving our ability to respond to stress.
2-Rest & Restore: by giving yourself time and space to relax and rest in a mindful and conscious state of awareness you can feel rested and energetically balanced.
3-Focus: by turning the senses inward, and focusing the mind on the breath and visualization techniques we cultivate the ability of the mind to focus, a benefit in our daily lives and our meditation practice.
4-Allow yourself to BE: Be still. Be supported. Be with your breath. Be yourself.
5-Pause & Reflect: You are invited to bring a journal or take some time at the end of class to reflect on your experience.
Yoga Nidra, a deeply restorative and restful practice, creates space for the body and mind to recover from life’s daily stressors (good and bad).
A regular practice in community with others enhances the practice. The very act of coming into this space with a shared sense of purpose instills a sense of the sacred, reinforcing in our minds the importance of this practice.
