In this class, we'll focus on mastering the basics. For those new to yoga (or Iyengar Yoga) who are looking to develop a yoga practice progressively and safely.This methodical approach will build progressively each week. Weekly attendance is encouraged, but drop-ins are permitted. We'll break each pose down into its foundational elements starting from the base so that we can learn strength, balance, flexibility, and cultivate awareness. We'll learn how to use props to support proper alignment. Foundational poses which include standing, seated, forward bends, and some twists will be emphasized. These poses will help strengthen the arms, legs, core, shoulders, and neck in preparation for learning introductory inversions. This series is aimed towards beginning practitioners but it is open to all, including those new to Iyengar Yoga or who want to explore the depth in the basics.
