The yoga for runners workshop. Integrated workshop focusing on strength, mobility, running form, feet strength, breath and meditation.
A full day of yoga for runners, whch includes a 7 mile trail run and drills. Thi is a focused session on bringing back balance, alignment and stability. Increased awareness of your whole body.
Runners know how to work out, this is a work in, a reminder that to run well you need to feel good about your body, your breath and your mind. Run with the same focus as meditation. You will run quicker, reduce injury and generally feel more open and at ease with yourself.
This workshop is for experienced runners who can run a comfortable 7-8 miles.
There is so much on YouTube that I think runners can get a little 'click baited' 'three things you need to stop running injury' or 'runners over 40 need to stop doing these 5 things' or '3 things you need to do to run faster' I could go on, but you get the picture.
I have been coaching runners for 15 years from Olympic standard to right across the age range and demograph. I have been a yoga practitioner for 25 years and now a teacher. The practice of yoga is very old but some of the photographs and shapes might look good but I am not so sure how useful they are for runners hence this workshop cuts through some of the media noise and focuses on the elements that I encounter on a regular basis as a coach and teacher.
Timings
9 .30 welcome and overview, Q and A intro, overall aims and outcomes
1 0.30 run to Churchill track and fields, 30 minutes form overview drills, then to the local trail (7-8 miles) includes trail, inclines, woods, cliff trails and beaches. We focus on movement, intentions and breathwork plus some mantra's to bring an extra dimension to the practice of running. The tide is out so we can finish barefoot running on the beach and some strength work as well.
1 2.30 warm down
1 .00 walk back to the yoga station. There is a toilet for changing.
1 .15pm extended lunch, local cafe's very close close by, next door :)
2 .30pm-4.30pm Yoga for the body, the breath and mind as runners and movers.
