Your yoga practice can be optimized to enhance strength and bone health. If you have low-bone density or osteoporosis you might wonder what kind and how much modification you need when you practice yoga poses. Some poses are safe and quite beneficial, you may need to vary some poses, and some should be avoided. All dimensions of yoga help to manage stress, which contributes to low bone density. We will discuss and experience beneficial bone-aware practices including both yang and yin-related options.
Each session will include:
•Mini content presentations, definitions, and discussion
•Practice: We will practice yoga for strength, flexibility, balance, agility, and equanimity for mind and body, all designed for healthy aging.
•Take-home materials.
Who should attend: Those interested in learning how yoga can be employed for wellness and a quality “health span”.
This workshop is appropriate for relatively healthy and physically able participants.
The sessions and practices will not specifically include chair yoga, and participants must be able to get up and down from the floor unassisted. Medical advice for specific conditions not included.
