About this Event

The benefits of practicing yoga extend to every aspect of horsemanship. Connect the mind, body, and soul to improve your riding skills with our Yoga for Equestrian series at The Farm at The Kentucky Castle. We are proud to offer this yoga series with our local partner, Elemental Yoga & Wellness.

You will be guided through a practice on the mat that is accessible to all levels of experience. Both on the mat and in the saddle, the practice of yoga can deepen our connection with our horses and improve the quality of every interaction.

Please kindly inform your instructor of any contraindications or any specific questions prior to class. We ask that our yoga students bring their own mat, props, water, and towel … and arrive at least 10 minutes before class.

This yoga class takes place in our white barn on The Farm at The Kentucky Castle. Please dress appropriately for the weather. Our Barn remains 10 degrees warmer than the outdoor temperature.

  • Children 8 years or older may attend yoga with parental supervision.

What do I bring?

  • Dress for Yoga for Equestrians: We encourage you to dress comfortably (athleisure wear) for yoga in the barn and for the weather. (note: the barn is usually ten degrees warmer than the outdoor temperature.)
  • Towels/Yoga Mat: This yoga class is held in our beautiful white barn on The Farm at The Kentucky Castle. Please bring a towel (or two) and a yoga mat that you do not mind being used on a wood chip footing in our indoor riding arena.
  • Water: Please bring your own water or hot beverage.
  • Food: We ask that you please do not bring snacks or food into The Barn.

I've never tried yoga and I am not an equestrian, can I attend Yoga for Equestrians?

  • Beginners are always welcome and encouraged to attend yoga classes at The Kentucky Castle. This yoga series is geared to improve strength, balance, and flexibility for equestrians. If you have any specific questions about postures or contraindications, please arrive 15 minutes prior to class to discuss with the instructor.

What can I expect from a Yoga for Equestrians class and will we practice yoga on horses?

  • The class will begin promptly at 9 am. Please arrive with ample time to park, find the class on the farm, and get comfortable in your spot in the white barn. Our yoga instructor will be available to answer any questions and assist you to your location in our riding arena.
  • Yoga for Equestrians is a mat-based practice and we will not be interacting with our horses during this series. All of our farm animals will be in the barn in their cozy stalls while you practice. At the end of class, there may be an opportunity to greet our barn animals while you exit the barn.

What else can I do at The Kentucky Castle?

  • We are so glad you asked. We offer reservations for our Hotel, Spa, and Restaurant. Feel free to check out our Experiences like Castle Tours, Farm Tours, and more animal farm fun here: https://www.thekentuckycastle.com/experiences#experiences
