Yoga Chikitsa describes a therapeutic application of yoga practices
Yoga as ‘therapy’ is for prevention and healing of the many causes and expressions of DIS-EASE and DIS-STRESS in the physical body, energetic field, mind and soul, or life in general.
The body is predisposed to self-heal, to rejuvenate and restore itself, but it requires the support of a calm, clear seeing mind that is free of agitation and disturbance.
Yoga Chikitsa affords us so many pathways to healing
- it teaches:
-simple methods to re-energise, heal and restore the physical body
-simple means to activate and potentise our energetic body responsible for the health and function of our physical body and minds
-Simple means to reacquaint the mind with its natural state of calm and clear perception
-Simple means to tap the purpose and pristine nature of the soul
-Simple means to experience our essential nature as untainted witness of it all
These practices are so important, especially in our unbalanced world. The knowledge that guides the practice is vital and life affirming.
Yoga is not only postural, or for only the external layers of skin, muscle and bone. It is intended to work much deeper than that. It has the capacity to influence healing of physiological function and psychological imbalance. It can also cause us to reorient our compass to better align to internal strength and toward the central values of life.
Shantarasa Yoga specialises in traditional yoga, its transformative practice and practical philosophy. The Shantarasa founders and senior teachers each draw from nearly 50 years of study, practice and teaching and the benefit of having received direct training from adept traditional teachers, masters, and scholars for decades.
For all this time they have been training practitioners and teachers in the path of yoga. Today, perhaps more than ever, the need for a powerful, effective and accessible healing approach to practice is essential.
You will practice healing asana that draws the powerful currents of subtle energy to restore and awaken the potential vital experience within our bodies. You will learn pranayama (specialised breathing techniques) accompanied by mudras (hand gestures) that generate tangible shifts in body, energy and state of mind, and enjoy yoga Nidra( conscious yogic sleep that throws off the burdens)- all of this will prepare you to slip into ancient methods of spontaneous meditation.
These retreats are unique and will transfer to you both skills and experience that will be lasting and powerful.
