A workshop with Gyani that unites the ancient wisdom & practice of Ayurveda with yoga, to bring you an integrated approach to your health and wellbeing.
Ayurveda is the science of how to live a conscious optimal life. It is the world’s oldest, natural system of health care and medicine dating back 5,000 years. It is sometimes called the sister science of yoga, in that both of these practices, can be traced back to the ancient Sanskrit texts of the Rig Veda
Ayur means ‘life’ and Veda means ‘knowledge’, so Ayurveda is often translated as the ‘science, or knowledge of life’. The basis of Ayurvedic philosophy is that the intelligence of the inner and outer worlds is inextricably connected.
The five basic elements of ether, air, fire, water, and earth, combine in the body as three characteristic blends (Tri-Doshas): Vata (ether and air), Pitta (fire and water) and Kapha (earth and water). These constitutions have particular characteristics and traits and by understanding what our particular dosha is and which dosha is out of balance, we can then take actions that help to bring us back to homeostasis.
Ayurveda takes a holistic view of health, from the physical, mental, emotional and spiritual levels, attending to the causal level of disease, rather than just treating symptoms. The Ayurvedic system uses the natural tools of herbal medicine, diet, yoga, meditation, pranayama and self-care practices as a way of supporting optimum health and wellbeing.
This approach fits in well with our modern day lifestyle, where we now have so many stresses to deal with in terms of environmental influences that are constantly pulling us out of balance, from technology, work, processed foods, and pollution in our air, water and earth. Ayurveda gives us knowledge and tools to become more in tune with the natural rhythms of body, mind and spirit so we can live well and in harmony.
