Science has shown the importance of regulation and the role of a balanced nervous system in supporting overall health, including mental health and well-being.
Yoga allows us to practice regulating ourselves through movement, breath, stillness, intention, and awareness. Many of the transformative effects that result from a regular yoga practice can, in fact, be attributed to its impact on our nervous system.
In this introductory workshop, you’ll gain an understanding of how your nervous system functions: we’ll explore what the parasympathetic and sympathetic branches of your nervous system are and what they do, be introduced to the vagus nerve and polyvagal theory, and practice yogic techniques to bring us back to balance so you can be more resilient and healthy.
If you (or your students) are experiencing anxiety, depression, digestive issues, chronic pain, migraines, insomnia or chronic fatigue, autoimmune issues or chronic inflammation, or have trouble maintaining healthy relationships, this workshop can help you understand the physiological reasons why, and show you how to support internal shifts to become more resilient, healthy and authentic.
