Yoga and Dance Class at Mapes Park!
About this Event
Join us for a free yoga and hip-hop dance class, led by incredible Bronx artists, as we soft launch a new wellness program at Mapes Park on Saturday, August 1st from 12-2PM!
Community leaders and stakeholders at Mapes Park – known as Community Champions – have engaged with community members to see what kinds of programming they'd like to see! Based on months of collecting community feedback, the team landed on a holistic wellness program.
This event is completely free as part of the SPARCS initiative, bringing community-driven activities to your neighborhood. Free drinks and snacks will be available for participants!
About SPARCS: The Supporting Parks and Revitalizing Communities Study (SPARCS) is a citywide initiative that looks at how park programming created and designed by community members impacts resident health and wellbeing. This project is a joint initiative between the CUNY School of Public Health and 3x3, along with support from the Partnership for Parks.
SPARCS Goals: At its core, SPARCS examines how community-led activations in neighborhood parks can boost health-related outcomes. The study focuses on mental health and well-being indicators— such as anxiety, stress, and loneliness—as well as social and physical well-being measures.
