This month we'll tackle a portion of the Turnagain Arm Trail (TAT). Starting at the Potter Marsh Trailhead, we'll hike in just over 2 miles to a beautiful lookout area. There we will take a 15-20 minute break for snacks and pictures. Then we'll come back the same way to the parking lot. Expect about a 2 hour total outing. The TAT is relatively flat, after an initial moderate climb. There are a few short ups and downs. Total distance to the lookout is 4.40 miles, with an overall elevation gain of approximately 700 feet. Bring the usual for hiking, including sturdy shoes, extra layers in case of changing weather, insect repellent, water, snacks, and bear spray, if you are comfortable carrying that.
