This family-friendly trail offers an easy hike with spectacular sights. Starting behind the Hotel Alyeska, the first ¾ mile is a wide boardwalk, followed by 1.5 miles of firm dirt path through lush northern rainforest. The highlight is Winner Creek Gorge, where the river squeezes into a 15-foot rock channel beneath a wooden bridge. From above, you can feel the thunder of rushing water and watch it cascade over several small drops. (Note: Hand Tram closed as of 2023.)
As with all Alaska hikes, dress in layers, bring water, snacks, a map, bear spray, and a charged cell phone.
