About this Event
Through our three integrated areas of impact – Healthy Living, Youth Development, Social Impact – the LA Y serves as the Center for Community Well-Being, dedicated to nurturing the full potential of individuals and communities across Los Angeles. On Sunday, April 13, 2025, join thousands of community members from the LA region in celebration of the 33rd Annual Healthy Kids Day®! As the Y’s largest national initiative, Healthy Kids Day® is dedicated to improving the health and well-being of kids and families. For over 30 years, the YMCA of Metropolitan Los Angeles has hosted free community Healthy Kids Day events designed to inspire children and families to stay active—both mentally and physically—throughout the summer and beyond. This year, we continue that tradition by showcasing how the Y helps build healthy, resilient kids through programs, services, advocacy, partnerships, social-emotional learning, and more.
In 2022, we united all 28 YMCA centers and 210 YMCA program sites to host our first centralized Healthy Kids Day® at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum—an effort we continued in 2023 and 2024, bringing thousands of families from the LA region and dozens of partners together to uplift and elevate the community. In 2025, we are excited to return to the LA Memorial Coliseum for another Day of PLAY for LA! Healthy Kids Day® is a free event, open to all!
The YMCA is the nation’s leading nonprofit committed to strengthening communities through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. That’s because a strong community can only be achieved when we invest in our kids, our health and our neighbors. That's why we focus our work in three areas:
· Healthy Living: Membership and programs welcome all, encourage family engagement, promote positive lifestyles, and lead to meaningful relationships. Emphasis is placed on the unique elements of local service areas. Social-emotional well-being initiative is a priority, individually and collectively as a society.
· Youth Development: Cradle-to-community well-being initiative expands youth, teen, and young adult programming and engagement to develop the next generation of leaders.
· Social Impact: Advocate and convene to lead meaningful change for the better, in LA’s collective communities. Improve the lives of Y people, Y communities, and the LA region as a whole. Measurably improve equity and inclusion for people of all ages and backgrounds. Lead opportunities unique to the needs of local communities. Promote good values and strong character in every program and every location.
