NOTICE OF INFORMATION MEETING FOR YINWUM TRADITIONAL OWNER GROUPCape York United # 1 Native Title Claim (QUD673/2014)

This notice is to advise that Cape York Land Council (CYLC) will be holding an information meeting for members of the Yinwum Traditional Owner Group in relation to the area over the Old Moreton Telegraph Station within the Cape York United #1 Claim. This area will also be the subject of an Indigenous Land Use Agreement. Note that this meeting will take place immediately after the Weipa Peninsula People Native Title Group s.87A Pre-Authorisation Meeting scheduled on the same day. Yinwum Traditional Owner Group Information Meeting

Purpose of Meeting
The purpose of this meeting is to provide information to the Yinwum Traditional Owner Group about the determination area over the Old Moreton Telegraph Station which the Yinwum Traditional Owner Group (as part of the Weipa Peninsula People Native Title Group) and the Northern Kaanju Native Title Group previously agreed to be a shared area at a meeting on 28 – 29 May 2021. As the agreement is now disputed by the Yinwum Traditional Owner Group, the matter has now been referred to Federal Court facilitated mediation on 20 July 2023 before National Judicial Registrar Stride and National Native Title Tribunal Member Glen Kelly. At this meeting, CYLC will advise of those persons nominated to attend the mediation on 20 July 2023 and discuss the next steps required by the Yinwum Traditional Owner Group (as part of the Weipa Peninsula People Native Title Group) to progress the matter following the mediation.
